Josh Frydenberg: The philosophy of the Liberal party

Hear the Treasurer’s thoughts on the fundamentals of the Australian Liberal Party

01 March 2019

What is the philosophical position of the Liberal party in Australia?

How do you operate, and why would we vote for them in a philosophical sense?

These are the questions that Mark Bouris put to the Federal Treasurer, Hon. Josh Frydenberg MP, when he joined The Mentor with Mark Bouris podcast.

“We stand for individual choice,” Mr Frydenberg said.

“If you want to send your child to private school or private health, we support that.”

“We stand for enterprise and the individual to fulfil their talents and to support small business.”

“We support families, we think they’re the heart of the community.”

“And one sentence sums it up: we want to create equality of opportunity for people, whereas the Labor party wants equality of outcomes, they want everyone to be the same.”

“We want people to be the best they can be - so whether you’re encouraging personal choice, small business, valuing enterprise and valuing family, that’s what we believe in.”
