Alison Egan: Social media only shows half of who you are

Hear from the Sparkling White Smile founder about using Instagram to grow her business

Alison Egan is the first to say that social media has helped her grow her business, cosmetic teeth whitening company, Sparkling White Smile.

The business social media accounts have grown to more than 60,000 followers, showcasing the before and after images of the teeth-whitening success.

Joining The Mentor with Mark Bouris, Alison talked about the way her business spread.

“Personally I’m not a big person on social media, I was lucky to start a teeth whitening company on social media and it took off,” Alison said.

“But I was never that person on social media; I literally put a few photos of the before and afters and it grew that way.”

Alison is eager to point out that while her social media following certainly attracts attention, the positive feedback from the clients themselves is far more valuable.

“Instagram only shows half of who you are, I wouldn’t be able to do someone’s teeth and that’s what would sell, it’s more word of mouth and not the photos that I have posted,” Alison said.
