Sparkling White Smile launched in 2014 when founder Alison Egan was just 19 years old and had struggled to find a cosmetic teeth-whitening service aside from cost-prohibitive dentists.
Joining The Mentor with Mark Bouris, Alison says imported the equipment from the United Kingdom, and it went from there.
“We literally Snapchatted that we were doing teeth whitening, and the number of replies that I got [was more than ever],” Alison said.
“That Saturday I had my first ever appointment, and it was a client I had absolutely no idea about - I was like, how did you know we even did this as I’d only ever put it on Snapchat?”
It built into a mobile service, as Alison was living at home with no alternative option for treating clients.
“The reason that the mobile business came about was because I told [the clients] I have to come to you as I don’t have a salon, I have nothing!,” Alison laughed.
“So I went to my girlfriend’s house and tried to get a beauty chair, but it wouldn’t fit in my car, so I went to Kmart and found these chairs and they’re now the big hit of teeth whitening.”
“I went to the job and one thing led to another, and before I knew it I had a client every single night, and within nine months I was able to quit my full-time job.”
