Life coach, youth worker and businessman Matt Purcell joined The Mentor with Mark Bouris to talk about his business ventures and how he makes the most of them.
Matt was asked about his approach to staying positive - and he gave this response.
“I look at my life and think this: life hands you a bunch of cards and what’s the alternative to not playing them the best you can?” he said.
“Quit? Throw them back and exit the world?”
“You’ve got to play the hand you’ve been dealt the best you can, and enjoy it, and leverage off the opportunities you’ve been blessed with.”
Matt further explained that the opportunities facing people today are so enormous that you can always look at a positive solution.
“Human beings died from plague, war and famine for thousands of years and now we’re born at a time where life expectancy is an all time high and crime at an all time low,” he said.
“We have different first world issues like obesity mental health and suicide - but we’re pretty lucky to be born at this time.”
“So when you can find those things - I’m so grateful that I’m here so I should be thanking the universe that I’m alive now.”
