Cheerforce ain't your average after school dance studio. Hidden in an industrial park, the studio dazzles with trophies, medals and the smiles of winning team photos. On any given afternoon, you might catch owner Nikki Mead teaching toddlers to tumble, tweens to chant or elite adults to launch each other into the air.
Based in Sydney’s Seven Hills, Cheerforce offers classes in cheerleading, dance and tumbling to people of all ages. But to its students, Cheerforce is a family; a place to feel welcome and a place to make lifelong friends.
And no wonder they’re so tight knit — the elite athletes train 12 hours a week, often traveling together to compete in competitions around Australia and the world. ‘But that’s just the competitive teams’, Nikki interjects, ‘we also have recreational classes!’.
For the elite teams, all those months of work and hundreds of hours of training culminate into just 2 minutes 30 seconds to impress the judges at a competition. The music, the movement — everything need to be precise in those two minutes. They need to nail all their stunts and wow the crowd in that tiny amount of time.
While the adorned walls of Cheerforce dazzle with their success, running the business side of things is not always cheerful. Like every small business owner, there have been struggles. Like trying to manage being an owner, coach and mum once Nikki and her husband started a family.
But QuickBooks Online has made time management a lot easier for Nikki. Managing the business side of things takes a lot less time now. ‘I can finish teaching a class, send invoices in the office then pop in to teach the next class.’
QuickBooks. Smarter business tools for the world’s hardest workers.
